OFFERED FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION is this very handsome and beautiful Antique French Sterling Silver Tea Caddy, finely crafted by talented Parisian master silversmith Tetard Frères, late 19th century to early 20th century. This bombé formed Tea Caddy is modern, crisp, and extremely elegant Art Deco style design with classic gadroon border accents. The top of the cap has hand-engraved crown. The interior has gorgeous Vermeil finish (gold-washed over sterling silver.)
Hallmarked French Minerva No.1 Titre mark on each part, to guarantee .950 purity sterling silver. This is one of the highest quality sterling silver in the world, purer than standard .925 sterling silver. Serial number 78236. Maker's mark of Tetard Frères. The Maison TÉTARD founded by Edmond Tétard in 1880, succeeded the business from Emile Hugo, at 4 rue Béranger in Paris. The pot in their mark comes from Hugo's mark. The workshop became Tétard Frères (Tétard brothers) in 1903, still at same address, their greatest successes in the 1920's and 1930's Art Deco style works.
