OFFERED FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION is this fabulous Antique French Sterling Silver Serving Dish by one of the most prestigious Parisian silversmith Emile PUIFORCAT, in excellent condition. This Serving Dish/bowl is wholly made of finest quality French sterling silver .950 purity, weighs heavy 35.45 oz/1,005 grams. Of particular note in this attractive serving dish is very versatile and useful size; 10.6 x 8.7 inch (27 x 22 cm,) and 1.8 inch (4.5 cm) deep. The design is extremely elegant, sharp and crisp, but it also has tremendous presence and pleasing softness. The edge is richly decorated with interlaced ribbon and pearl border with acanthus accent on corners. Excellent estate condition.
Hallmarked French Minerva No.1 Titre mark, which guaranteed 950/1000 purity solid sterling silver, used in Paris since 1838. This is one of the highest quality silver contents, higher than standard 925/1000 sterling. Maker's mark of Emile Puiforcat and brand mark "PUIFORCAT". The Maison Puiforcat was established on 1857 at 18, then 16 rue Chapon in Paris. Emile died in 1883 and his successors maintained the same maker's mark, flourished to the one of the most renown Parisian silversmith till today.
