FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IS this particularly attractive and very rare Antique French Sterling Silver Ice Cream Serving Knife by prestigious Parisian silversmith Emile PUIFORCAT, in excellent condition. This crescent shaped curved knife, or "Serpe à Glace", has intricately pieced handle with fantasy ferrure ironwork design, embellished with large mascaron on both sides. The blade is finely decorated with elegant hand engraving foliate scroll pattern. An interlaced monogram, probably JC, on the oval cartouche on backside of the handle. Excellent condition!
Hallmarked French Minerva No.1 Titre mark to guarantee .950 purity sterling silver. This is one of the highest quality sterling silver in the world, purer than standard .925 sterling silver. Maker's mark of Emile Puiforcat. The Maison Puiforcat was established on 1857 at 18, then 16 rue Chapon in Paris. Emile died in 1883 and his successors maintained the same maker's mark, flourished to the one of the most renown Parisian silversmith till today.
