This handsome Wine Taster has a classic ART DECO modernist shape and design, with Després's trademark hammered surface and crisp details. Boldly unscripted "DIEU PROTEGE LA FRANCE" on the rim with star marks. Hand-engraved signature "J. Després" on the bottom.
Jean Després (1889-1980) was a French jewellery maker and designer best known for his stylish Art Deco jewellery. Després was deeply inspired by his friendships with avant-garde artists in Montmartre scene at the time, including Georges Braque, Pablo Picasso, Amedeo Modigliani, among others. Després's works were collected and worn by celebrities such as Josephine Baker, Andy Warhol, Paul Signac and Andre Malraux.
Hallmarked the French Minerva No.2 mark, which guaranteed at least .800 purity of solid silver, used in Paris since 1838. Hand-engraved signature "J. Després" on the bottom.
