DELIGHTED TO HAVE FOR sale this beautiful Antique French Sterling Silver Double Open Salt Cellar with its original cobalt blue crystal liners - finely crafted by renowned Parisian silversmith François-Alphonse Debain, active 1847-1864.

This fabulous Double Open Salt Cellar is beautifully embellished with ornate decorative work of Rococo style C and S shaped scrolls on the handle, floral and foliage swags on the containers, and Louis XVI style ribbon and oval medallion on the connecting point. It stands on especially lovely rocaille clad scroll feet. The Cobalt Blue Liners are movable.

Hallmarked French Minerva No.1 Titre mark, to guarantee .950 purity sterling silver. This is one of the highest quality sterling silver in the world, purer than standard .925 sterling silver. Maker's mark DEBAIN for François-Alphonse Debain, active 1847-1864 at 140 rue du Temple. François-Alphonse is the first of renown Parisian silversmith workshop Maison Debain, followed by his son, Debain & Flamant, then the grandson Alphonse Debain (1883-1911.)
