Offered for your consideration is a very beautiful Antique French Sterling Silver Wine Cup or Goblet, finely crafted by renown Parisian master silversmith Maison Boulenger. The Wine Cup is wholly made of the finest quality French sterling silver .950 purity.
It is finely embellished with raised decoration of Thistle leaves and flowers, in elegant Art Nouveau style composition, forming a large cartouche on the front. The Cup is thick and heavy, high quality example.
Excellent condition with beautiful patina acquire through decades.
Hallmarked French Minerva No.1 mark to guarantee .950 purity sterling silver, used in Paris since 1838. This is one of the highest standard of silver, purer than usual .925 sterling silver. Maker's mark is that of Maison Boulenger. The company was founded in 1810 under the name Hautin, and was continued in 1864 by Adolphe Boulanger, Hautin's great-nephew, at 4 rue du Vertbois in Paris. Exhibited at most of the national and international exhibitions, Boulenger received notable numbers of medals, prizes and diplomas until 1913.
