Offered for your consideration is a very beautiful Antique French Sterling Silver Wine Cup or Goblet, finely crafted by renown Parisian master silversmith Henri Soufflot, active 1884-1910. The Wine Cup is wholly made of the finest quality French sterling silver .950 purity.
It is finely decorated with a gorgeous Rococo style cartouche, rocaille scallop border, floral and foliage accents. The technique used to create the pattern is called Repoussé (embossed.) A sheet of silver is heated and the pattern raised from the reverse side using tolls of different shapes. It is done by hand and difficult to master.
Excellent condition with beautiful patina acquire through decades.
Hallmarked French Minerva No.1 mark to guarantee .950 purity sterling silver, used in Paris since 1838. This is one of the highest standard of silver, purer than usual .925 sterling silver. Maker's mark of Henri Soufflot, 89 rue Turbigo, active 1884 till 1910.
