Offered for your consideration here is this exceptional quality Antique French Sterling Silver Sugar Bowl in excellent condition. This fabulous Sugar Bowl is wholly made of the finest quality French sterling silver .950 purity.
The decoration is a classical Rococo style revival; having flute spiral background on the body and the lid. The design is further elaborated with lavish Rococo motifs, including Rocaille scallop borders, scrolls, acanthus leaves, foliage and flower accents. And it's on four especially beautiful casted feet. The interior has gorgeous Vermeil (gold-washed over sterling silver) finish. An impressively large centralised cartouche with intricate hand-engraved monogram. The work is just superb and done with a master's attention to detail. A very massive, heavy piece.
Hallmarked the French Minerva No.1, which guarantees .950 purity of solid sterling silver, used in Paris since 1838. This is one of the highest quality silver in the world, purer than usual .925 standard. Maker's mark is that of Adolphe Erenard, worked 1876-1895 at 64 rue Reaumur in Paris.
