This fabulous serving piece has an elegant Neo Classical style decoration on the handle, featuring berried laurel, scrolls, shell motif and flora. The bowl has unique shell shape with hollow, gentle curve to serve the delicate fruits. It is finely decorated with hand engraved flowers, foliage and a butterfly in early Art Nouveau style, having gorgeous Vermeil gilt finish. Free from any form of personalisation.

Hallmarked the French Minerva No.1 mark, which guarantees .950 purity of sterling silver, used in Paris since 1838. This is one of the most high quality silver standard, purer then .925 sterling silver. Maker's mark is that of Edouard ERNIE, active 1882-1901 at 7 rue Réaumur, Paris. He was a son-in-law and successor of talented silversmith Jules Guétin, and associated with Henri Gabert, also a renown silversmith, before he established his own workshop.
