Delighted to have for sale this magnificent quality Antique French Sterling Silver Sauceboat by Pierre François Augustin TURQUET, active 1844-1855. This fabulous mid-19C sterling silver sauce/gravy boat consists of three parts: Sauce Jug, Charger/Service Plate and Removable Interior Liner Bowl. It functions quite reasonable - you have no need to carry the whole sauceboat to refill sauce or gravy, and the service plate is removable, attached with a screw.

The design is remarkably sophisticated and elegant - gorgeous, yet not too much elaborate, finely embellished with raised floral & foliage motifs on smooth surface in careful composition. The curvy shape of the sauce jug would look fabulous on your table from every direction. The service plate has amazing raised contoured rim with acanthus leaf accents, standing on 4 casted feet in Rococo style.

Hallmarked the French Minerva No.1 Titre mark on each parts, including interior liner, which guaranteed 950/1000 purity solid sterling silver, used in Paris since 1838. This is one of the highest standards of silver - higher than 925/1000 sterling. Maker's mark is that of Pierre François Augustin TURQUET, 32 rue du Bourg l'Abbe, active 1844-1855. It also bears a brand stamp "TURQUET".
