THIS IS A FABULOUS ANTIQUE French Sterling Silver Sugar Bowl with its original blue crystal liner, finely crafted by Fray Fils, active 1875-1891. The design is in sumptuous Louis XVI style, decorated with magnificent array or ornamentations include architectural element, ribbon, acanthus and berried laurel motifs. Leaving no space undecorated, this sugar bowl has adorable casted finial on top of the cover, and two side handles on the body. A handsome oval cartouche on both sides, free from any form of personalisation. Delightful size and excellent condition.
Hallmarked French Minerva No.1 mark on each parts, which guaranteed 950/1000 purity solid sterling silver, used in Paris since 1838. This is one of the highest quality silver contents, higher than standard 925/1000 sterling. Maker's mark of Fray Fils, active 1875-1891 on 22 rue Pastourelle, Paris, succeeded to prestigious Maison Larleux.
