On offer is this very beautiful and rare Antique French Sterling Silver Baby Rattle with whistle end, by highly skilled Parisian master silversmith Auguste-Lucien Ludot, active 1845-. This lovely Baby Rattle is elegantly sculpted and decorated with magnificent array of ornamentation, including foliage motifs, pearl borders, embossed oval floral medallions, feuille d'eau and four little hanging bells. A beautiful rattling sound is heard from the large ball-shaped section and tulip-shaped little hanging bells. The whistle is in excellent shape and makes a clear, high note sound.

The handle is a gently shaped Mother of Pearl (MOP). It comes with original solid silver chain.

Hallmarked French Boar's Head mark to guarantee at least .800 purity of solid silver for small objects. Maker's mark of Auguste-Lucien Ludot, 21 rue Beaubourg, Paris, active since May 13, 1845 (date of the mark struck-off is unknown.) Also, current re-controlled small Minerva mark is presented.

Excellent Estate Condition with minor sign of light use. A few tiny dents mainly on the very top (at the tip of whistle), a hairline crack and some age-related light scratch marks here and there. Please refer the detail photos.
