Delighted to have for sale this fabulous Mid 19C Imperial Russian Solid 84 Silver Tea Strainer or Sugar Sifter with beautifully bold Niello decoration. With a classic gothic style shape with checkered pattern Niello and hand-engraved adornment. On the handle there is a crest-shaped cartouche, free from any form of personalisation. The interior of the bowl has gorgeous gilt finish. It has very sharp and well-defined detail and in such wonderful condition.

Hallmarked Russian silver mark of 84, which corresponds to 84 zolotnik, 875/1000 purity solid silver. City mark or Moscow. Assayer mark of Viktor Savinkov, dated 1865. Maker's mark with two Cyrillic letters. French importation control mark of "Swan".

Excellent Estate Condition with minor sign of light use. Some light scratch marks mainly inside of the bowl. The gilt finish is still vivid and richly presented considering its age. Please refer the detail photos I added.
