THIS IS A VERY LOVELY Antique French Sterling Silver Cachepot or Ice Serving Bucket, with boldly raised berried foliage swag decoration.

The term Cachepot means small Jardinière, a decorative cup, pot, or bowl intended to grace tabletop or mantlepiece, usually with plants or flowers inside. The design is crisp and modern, with classically elegant Louis XVI style swag pattern with ribbon accent. It stands on wide pedestal feet, the rim has elegant contoured mouth. This lovely piece is wholly made of the finest quality French sterling silver .950 purity. Excellent condition and ready to grace your table.

Hallmarked French Minerva No.1 Titre mark on the top and the base, to guarantee .950 purity sterling silver. This is one of the highest quality sterling silver in the world, purer than standard .925 sterling silver. Lozenge shaped French silversmith maker's mark with rooster, could not find the reference.
