A VERY BEAUTIFUL Antique French Partial Gilt Solid Silver Napkin Ring in elegant Art Nouveau style for your consideration. This Napkin Ring is masterfully crafted with raised foliage and floral decoration with partial Vermeil gilt (gold-washed over sterling silver) on the detail. It has hand-engraved pattern on the edges, and a large, centralised raised oval cartouche with contoured decoration. Excellent condition.
Hallmarked the French Boar's Head mark, which guarantees at least .800 purity of sterling silver, used in Paris since 1838. It probably used .800 instead of .950 because of its gilt decoration (gold stick better on lower silver content.) Maker's mark in diamond shape, but we could not find the reference.
Measurements & Condition
2 inch (5 cm) diameter x 1 5/8 inch (4 cm) wide, weight 1.26 oz (35.7 grams)
